Spanish simple conditional: Regular verbs

The conditional of regular verbs called, potencial simple in Spanish, is formed similar to the future tense.

1) Use the entire infinitive as a stem: hablar/ To speak, comer / to eat, and vivir/ to live

2) Add the following endings to the stem. Notice that there is a single settings for the conditionals

Yo -ía
Tu -ías
Usted -ía
El/Ella -ía
Nosotros -íamos
Ustedes -ían
Ellos/ellas -ían

Hablar/ to speak

Yo hablar-ía Hablaría I would speak
Tu hablar -ías Hablarías You would speak
Usted hablar -ía Hablaría You wold speak
El/Ella hablar -ía Hablaría She/she would speak
Nosotros hablar -íamos Hablaríamos We would speak
Ustedes hablar -ían Hablarían You (plural) would speak
Ellos/ellas hablar -ían Hablarían They would speak


Comer/ to eat

Yo comer-ía Comería I would eat
Tu comer -ías Comerías You would eat
Usted comer -ía Comería You wold eat
El/Ella comer -ía Comería She/she would eat
Nosotros comer -íamos Comeríamos We would eat
Ustedes comer -ían Comerían You (plural) would eat
Ellos/ellas comer -ían Comerían They would eat


Vivir/ to live

Yo vivir-ía viviría I would live
Tu vivir -ías vivirías You would live
Usted vivir -ía viviría You wold live
El/Ella vivir -ía viviría She/she would live
Nosotros vivir -íamos viviríamos We would live
Ustedes vivir -ían vivirían You (plural) would live
Ellos/ellas vivir -ían

They would live
